Hello...May I Please Speak with Wonder-Woman?

Who is Your Heroine?

You know...who is that woman that inspires you to do more, go further and push harder than you would ever imagine without them.  Who do you not only admire but encourages you to aspire to become all that you can be?

When I was MUCH younger, Wonder Woman was the end all be all!  As a brunette little girl living in a Barbie world, I was over the moon to find that blonds may have more fun, but brunettes kick bum and with style!  She reminded me that hair color was not destiny and knowledge is power.
Star Wars came out and I just thought Princess Leia was the cat's meow!  Here was a princess that could open up a can of serious whoop-ass and still be "your royal highness".  Talk about a game changer!  I learned that taking calculated risks was necessary to evolve as a woman and just because you are fighting a battle doesn't mean you can't do it with style.

Over the years I've learned so much from many heroines.  Some from Hollywood, most from my everyday life.  I consider them my entourage of inspiration.  When I'm down feeling like the statue rather than the pigeon, I remember that for which I'm grateful.  I may not have an invisible plane or a gold bikini but I have faith, hope & love.

Faith makes things possible, not easy.  Whether or not you know it now, you already are the woman you aspire to become.  Have faith.  Keep hope.  Know that you are loved.  Seek to be that for other women.  Make a difference.  Become all that you are!

Faux or Foe?

Splurge or Save?
Will people notice the difference?
Is faux another term for really cheap?

All good questions and worthy of consideration. I don't claim to be an expert by any means but I'm happy to share what I've learned.
Is faux right for you?  There are three primary factors to consider:
  • Quality counts!  Pay attention to how the piece feels (weight & texture).  Is the gold too yellow? Is the stone smooth? Does the clasp work well?  Ask the questions, where were your materials sourced?  Are there any special care instructions? If something seems to good to be true, it probably is.
  • Are you comfortable wearing the faux jewelry or will you be self-conscious?  Unless your friends are jewelers or have a special interest in gemstones or sell leather as a career, they probably won't notice.  But if you feel fake, your faux becomes a foe to your self-esteem and that's no good.
  • Cost is always a factor.  A quality faux can cost HUNDREDS or THOUSANDS less than the real thing.  Even so, a quality faux may not be inexpensive.  High end 18K gold filled/plated items are beautiful and while they cost only a fraction of the real thing, it is not cheap. Look at your budget and determine is you are looking for a single piece to wear or a few quality faux pieces to wear with several outfits.
Trust your instincts, educate yourself prior to shopping and you won't go wrong.
Already have some fabulous faux pieces?  How do you faux?

What Inspires You?

Each morning we wake up, put our feet on the floor and rise.
Granted that some days we rise & shine while other days we just rise.
What inspires you to shine?  To follow your passion?
What inspires you to have hope?  To take a risk?
What inspires you to laugh so hard your belly hurts?

What inspires you today?

CYA: Celebrate Your Assets...

The sun, the sand and fabulous YOU!  Summer is here and trying to look hot while staying cool (literally) is key.  While accessories play a key role in defining our style with each outfit, too much is just TOO MUCH.  Select a feature that you'd like to emphasize and focus on accessories that draw attention to that area.

Want to feature your beautiful eyes or slender neck?  Consider wearing earrings with movement.  This will draw attention upward.

Necklaces are fabulous way to emphasize your upper body. There are several aspects to consider when selecting the best necklace for you and the specific outfit you are working with.  Think about your frame and color of skin & hair.  If you are petite, a chunky necklace may be overwhelming.

Just got a stellar manicure in the newest shade for the season?  Make your fingertips pop with a sparkly bracelet or several bangles.

Remember, you want people to notice YOU not just your accessories!  The best accessory you have is your confidence and winning smile!
