Accessorize Your LBD!

"Little Black Dress"...it's a staple for most of us and one is never enough. You have your casual LBD, your cocktail LBD, your business function LBD and the list goes on and on!  How do you save yourself from going out and buying yet another LBD when you already have 6 in your closet?

Take your favorite dress and add a few spectacular accessories for a whole new look... Adding color to your jewelry rather than going with the traditional rhinestones or pearls is the quickest way to update your look.

Color can add drama and depth to your look without spending a fortune. Make sure you select accessories that suit your style and don't overpower your natural features.

Mix It Up!

For far too long, people have been told "you have to stick to a single metal" when selecting jewelry to wear.  If your watch is silver/white gold, then the rest of your jewelry should match.  I'm here to tell you to that is OLD and OUTDATED!  Get ready to mix it up and open the door to a whole new world in accessorizing.

Make sure you have a pieces that can work with your casual outfits and those that you can dress up.  Even though you may be wearing shorts and sandals, doesn't mean your throw wearing some bling out the door.  Look for pieces that have a shine to them (bright gold or silver) but incorporate matte or a darker metal such as gunmetal.  This creates depth and gives your piece and unique twist.

Already have gold and silver jewelry?  Layer it and wear it together for a modern and stylish look.  Let us know how do you mix it up?

Whats Old is New...Again.

Vintage...You hear the word thrown around all the time.  What does it really mean?  What does it have to do with my style?  What's the big deal?

The Webster Dictionary definition of vintage is:
  • of wine : of, relating to, or produced in a particular vintage
  • of old: recognized, and enduring interest, importance, or quality : classic
  • dating from the past : old b : outmoded, old-fashioned
  •  of the best and most characteristic

With regards to how it may apply to you and your style, it really on what you're drawn to and personal preferences.  Ten years ago, I thought vintage was completely irrelevant to my style.  Today, it has become and integral part of my overall style choices and a medium I love to work with in jewelry.

The Big Deal: Vintage jewelry pieces that are high quality and remarkable allow me to create pieces that are not only unique, but that have a history.  As a designer, the ability to create distinct, unique pieces is like Christmas morning as a kid.  To wear a one-of-a-kind piece is to acknowledge that you are precious and a force with which to be reckoned.

I encourage you to add a little vintage to your life whether your medium is wine,
accessories or furniture.  You may be surprised what happens.
Already incorporate vintage into your life?  Let us know how YOU do vintage!

Fortitude and Feathers

Want to know the quickest way to turn heads?  I've been asked this many times and my answer remains the same...Fortitude and Feathers!

Your fortitude or strength of character is essential to your everyday wardrobe and its no exception when it comes to the laws of the universe.  You will attract what you put out into the universe.

Bling may catch someones eye, but feathers catch someones interest.

Whether a necklace, earrings or in a bracelet, feathers intrigue, invite and peak curiosity.  Make sure to tone down other jewelry when selecting feathers as an accessory.   Be ready for attention and step out with confidence!

Pearls, Politics & Personality

Sarah Jessica Parker wear them on Carrie’s big day in Sex in the City.
Audrey Hepburn made them famous in Breakfast at Tiffany's.
Jackie O's signature double strands are legendary.

They are a staple for brides, sorority women and most that hold the title of First Lady. Seemingly unassuming and subdued, pearls have a way of making quite the statement.

  • Wear your pearls with a T-shirt and jeans for a casual look with an upscale edge.
  • Multiple long strands of pearls make a little black dress ultra chic for a cocktail party.
  • Wear suits during the day? Select colored pearls of larger size for a clean & bold look.
No matter how you choose to wear your pearly whites, make them your own by allowing your personality to shine through!  How do you wear your pearls???

Much Ado About Matte

Wherever you go these days, you're bound to see at least one piece of jewelry that is made from metals that have a matte finish.  Whether you shop at vintage clothing stores, Target or Bergdorf Goodman, matte jewelry has staked out a place in their accessory collections.

A matte finish on jewelry does not mean the metal lacks sheen or is  visually "flat". Typically, the jewelry has a more modest shine.  I've heard it described as the difference between a satin finish and high gloss lipstick.

Necklaces are a wonderful way to experiment with mixing your current accessories with matte pieces.  Try pairing a shiny silver chain with a matte gold necklace for an eye-catching yet classic look.

Overall, the matte trend in jewelry is  fun one to try as the risk is minimal and the rewards can be immediate.
